Staff meetings are the at 10 AM on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Full Moon Books.  You can still be on staff if you can’t make those meetings.

*Please note that in mailing out the ballots this year, the deadline to return ballots was omitted from the ballot itself. We apologize for this oversight. Though we had posted the November 15th postmark deadline on our website, in deference to our membership, we opted to extend the deadline to any ballot received up to and including the 28th of November.

We are entertaining the following suggestions:

• **Keep Dragonfest on the first full week in August
• **Move Dragonfest to the last full week in July
• **Move Dragonfest to the first weekend in August (Still would be a Wednesday -Sunday event, it would just be based on when the weekend started in August rather than the 1st full week)

There has been requests for quite a few number of years to accommodate the ever encroaching first day of school for local kids and educators. Someone pointed out the main issue with school start date wasn’t this year but was actually in subsequent years (2012). Another reason to change the date was related to weather. Though it is dryer later in August, that is not an option. Staff did research the history of weather in the area and yes, the end of July is slightly dryer than the middle of August. The third idea behind moving the date is because for the first time in a long time, we are not tied down by schedules of the land we are using or from specific vendors that we had to use in years past. We want to know what you, our membership, genuinely think about this possibility

2011 Ticket Packet

• Workshop and ritual schedules are now posted online.
• Ticket packets will be sent soon.  If you registered but haven’t received your ticket packet by the time you need to leave for ‘fest, don’t stress out.  Print the directions from the website and the friendly folks at the gate will sort out any issues.
• Current fire ban status: no fire ban!  This means you can have a wood camp fire in a raised metal container.  However, if conditions change, a fire ban could be reinstated.  We’ll let you know on the website and at the gate if there’s a fire ban.
• The site preservation team needs folks to help Leave No Trace on Monday after the retreat.  You get to camp on site Sunday night and you aren’t required to do a workshift during the event.  Email site-preservation at dragonfest.org for more information.
• Forest Service Road 550 (which goes downhill from Wellington Lake Rd. to near the site entrance) has been recently graded, so it should be a more pleasant ride than last year.  Still drive slow, though; there may still be some big bumps.  Full directions here.
• Breakfast has been scaled back to reflect this year’s lower attendance.  However, it looks like it’ll be just as tasty!  Join us for food, community, and morning announcements.
• Also due to lower attendance, we will need to cut Kidfest hours to 12:30 – 6pm.  Please note we will still require parents to do a workshift at Kidfest, in addition to your normal workshift if you drop your children off at Kidfest.  We also ask that if your child has any special needs or dietary issues that you notify the staff and bring snacks that are suitable for them.
• Consider volunteering for a second workshift!  They make important things happen, they build community, they help hard-working staff, and they can be a lot of fun.  In earlier years, all participants were required to do two workshifts.  In recent years, we’ve had enough people and enough infrastructure that only one workshift per participant was required.  But with low attendance, we’d really like to raise the volunteer energy.
• Please wear all white for the main ritual on Saturday night.
• Check the website regularly until ‘fest in case there are more important announcements.
• If your family needs to contact you in an emergency while you’re at Dragonfest, they should go to http://dragonfest.org/ where contact instructions will be posted.
