Dragonfest 2010 Rituals - UPDATED

Postby Joseph » Thu Apr 15, 2010 2:12 pm

With registration underway it is time to start thing about the ritual you will be presenting at Dragonfest.

Each year members of our growing and diverse community present rituals that represent the paths they walk
as individuals and as covens. It is challenging and inspiring to present a ritual to the Dragonfest community and we
hope that this year many of you will share your rituals with the community. Do you have a favorite ritual? Mystery or
a ritual with a special focus? We would love to have you present this year. Please email rituals@dragonfest.org.

NEW – The primary ritual presenter presenting two or more scheduled rituals will now have met their required work
shift for Dragonfest. We understand the hours or work that goes into preparing a public ritual and hope that this small
thank you will help keep our list of workshops vibrant and strong.

It looks like Coyote Wicca Church is not attending this year, so the Bill-the-cat ritual may not occur unless I can get two volunteers (HPS and runner). Maybe some other coven or group will do the ritual: the script is on the 'net.

Okay, I was not going to attend this year but after seeing there is a ritual called "Holy Shit" planned, well, I must participate no matter what the ritual is about.

Being part of that ritual it is a little more serious than what one might think :-)
we did the midnight Hecate ritual last year, if that helps.

But were is my bill ritual?

We could still use a few more rituals to fill out the 2010 year

Wednesday
Opening Ritual: Main Ritual Meadow – 7 pm
Come join the Dragonfest Staff, Dragonfest Board of Directors as we open the Retreat.
*PARENTAL NOTE* Please be away that this year’s ritual does contains limited ritual nudity

Thursday

Flower Frenzy: Thursday 11 AM
*PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED*

This is modeled after a Mayan Bathing Ritual. This is a Women's Mystery and you need to have had your first moon time to participate. We will take the first 20 who pre-register, all maidens going through the girls moon rite will need to attend. It will be after the Full Moon so think of things you want to wash out of your life to make space for the new or bring resolution. You will need to bring a bucket, a cup, and flowers or herbs of the plants that represent what you want to wash out of your life. Please register through email at tanna_sage@yahoo.com and put Flower Frenzy in the subject.

Young Maiden’s Coming of Age Ritual: Thursday 5 PM, Community Center

*PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED*
Falconwing and the Coven of The Order of the Cauldron on the Sage will be presenting a Young Maiden’s Coming of Age Ritual. This is a coming of age rite of passage for all young women who have reached their first moon cycle. It is a celebration of this life passage and parents/sponsors are asked to attend this rite as well. The young women are asked to bring a white robe, dress or outfit to the fest for wearing in the participation of this rite. As part of this rite the girls will be joining the Flower Frenzy ritual Thursday at 11am. Girls and their adult sponsor will be able to register for the rite up to August 1st. If you have any questions, would like more information or would like something specific incorporated, please email pentacat@yahoo.com

Holy Shit: Thursday 7 PM

Join us in this ritual to honor Tlazeteotl, Filth Eater, who receives our woes and transgressions and purifies them with the holy blood of birth. Tlazeteotl is an ancient Meso-American goddess who consumes, forgives, and transforms all offense into new life through her own birth sacrifice.

Aztec lore decrees that one may call on her only once, or risk terrible wrath and punishment, but for those who approach with pure intention and genuine spirit, she provides cleansing, holiness , and peace. Please join us for this deeply personal ritual honoring one of the most esoteric and revered goddesses of the new world.

Friday

Sacred Massage with Dancing Otter: Friday 1 PM
Safe, sacred, skyclad. Bring your favorite: oil ( What scent is in your bottle?) and round cover. This is two hours of comforting, relaxing Laying On Of Hands. Several small groups, each working on one person at a time. Each of us will receive about 10 minutes of blissful attention.
This ritual has a Skyclad option and not appropriate for teens & children

Multiple Drawing Down: Main Ritual Meadow – 5:30 PM onward
Rated (PG) for possible strong emotional content.
One of the lasting traditions of Dragonfest is the multiple drawing down. Every year it is a little bit different and a little bit the same. From time to time, each of us needs to be reminded that the Gods/Goddesses are at work in our lives, and that the answer to the question we have been asking or ignoring is still the same even though it comes from an unexpected source. Come and partake of one of the great mysteries and join us for a potentially life-changing experience. Presented by people too numerous to mention. Please note that this year we have
changed the timing a little bit to allow more people to have the opportunity to experience the beauty and magic of the divine.

Boys Coming of Age Ritual: Friday 6 PM

*PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED*
This meaningful and exciting ritual is open to all boys 12 and older. If you have a boy who is ready to participate you must pre-register. Please send email to: dfest-boyscoa-info@yahoogroups.com. Adults who want to help with the rite should also contact us at this email.

Saturday

Giving Tree: Saturday immediately following the Heart of the Dragon parade and Merchants High Tea, Main Meadow

The Giving Tree is a ritual that signifies the love and sharing that is Dragonfest community. Bring a gift to hang from the tree, something that calls for a new home to bring love and peace, growth and magick. Please join us for this wonderful ritual

Sunday
Closing Ritual: Main Ritual Meadow – Noon
The closing ritual is where we say thanks and goodbye to our friends and family. As always it is presented by our Teens. Please join them in closing our wonderful Retreat.

* NEW* Men's Saging Ritual - A Rite of Passage to Elderhood Thursday 1 PM
There are three major phases of life that are clearly felt by many men. These correspond to some degree to the Saturn cycle. The first Saturn return occurs at 29 1/3 years marking the transition from youth to mature adulthood. The second Saturn return comes at age 58 2/3. By this age the momentum of activity has slowed down and many men find themselves shifting into a consciousness of the approaching end of life and a corresponding re-evaluation of priorities. This is a time when a conscious decision can be made to pursue the role of Sage in the community. This ritual is intended to initiate, bless, honor and affirm the intentions of men moving into the place of the Sage. Men who already consider themselves as Sages or
Elders and those who want to be initiated as Sages are invited to attend this ritual. There will be a discussion in preparation for the ritual. Please bring chairs.

Croning Ritual (Fourth annual at DragonFest): 1 PM

The Crones of DragonFest invite any woman who considers herself to be a Crone to participate in this ritual, whether or not you have had a Croning ritual at another time and place. We would like to honor you at this important time of your life.
If at all possible, please attend the Workshop for Crones if you plan to take part in this ritual. If you are unable to come to the Workshop but would still like to participate in the ritual, please talk with one of us at Crones' Attic, our booth on Merchants' Row
