Dragonfest Newsletter – January 2025

Dear Dragonfest Community!

Happy 2025, we hope the year ahead has many blessings for you! We are very excited to be planning our 40th retreat this year! Here are the latest updates:

Dragonfest Staff
If you would like to sign up for Dragonfest Staff, please click here to sign up: Dragonfest Staff Sign-Up Form. Interested in volunteering but need more information? Please click here for a list of all staff positions and the time commitment required to perform each role.

All staff meetings will be hosted in a hybrid format (both in person and online). They are hosted on the 3rd Saturday of each month from January to July and run from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Jefferson Unitarian Universalist Church: 14350 W. 32nd Ave Golden, CO 80401.

Dragonfest’s 40th Retreat
Can you believe 2025 will be the 40th Dragonfest retreat? We are working on some great ideas already, and we are looking for more contributions from our community. We have many ways to get involved in creating an amazing celebration. If you’d like to be involved, fill out this form.

Heart of the Dragon Legacy Award Nominations
The Heart of the Dragon Legacy award was created to honor a person or persons who, through their actions and way of life, have embodied the Heart of the Dragon of Dragonfest. Our nominations for the 2025 Heart of the Dragon award are now open. You may either use the last question on our member survey (details in the next section below) to nominate your choice, or you can send an email with your nomination to board@dragonfest.org. All nominations are due by Friday, February 14.

2025 Workshops and Rituals
Like the rest of our annual retreat, the workshops and rituals at Dragonfest are 100% volunteer created and run. If you have an idea for a workshop or ritual you’d like to provide, we are now taking submissions for the 2025 retreat. You can fill out the form here. If you would like to present one of the annual rituals (e.g. the Mysteries or the Main Ritual) or you have questions about workshops and rituals, please reach out to Vanth directly at Vanth@dragonfest.org.

Keeping in Touch
Dragonfest has multiple ways to keep you informed on what’s happening with the current year’s retreat and our organization. Here are all the ways you can keep in touch with us:

  • Email newsletter – if you’re reading this in your email inbox, congratulations! You are already subscribed to our newsletter. It’s delivered monthly, directly to you. If you know someone who would like to be added to the newsletter, have them send an email to communications@dragonfest.org.
  • Website – each month after the newsletter is sent out in inboxes, we will also post it to the Dragonfest website, under the “News” tab.
  • Facebook – Dragonfest has a Facebook group and FB Messenger chat. The group is a great place to find our announcements, ask questions and talk about Dragonfest!
  • Instagram – Dragonfest has an Instagram page. We mostly use this to advertise Dragonfest, but we do announce big news there as well, such as registration opening, important deadlines and showcasing our merchants.
  • Discord – our Discord channel is a great option if you like the group aspect of the Facebook group, but don’t have or don’t want to use Facebook. (Or maybe you just want both!) A variety of topics are announced and discussed there.
  • Is there a method of contact we aren’t using that you’d like to recommend? Great! Reach out to Communications with your recommendation.
