Dragonfest T-shirt Art Contest Rules and Guidelines
Dragonfest invites all artists to submit work for a chance to be featured on Dragonfest retreat t-shirts or used in other Dragonfest publications. In addition, prizes will be awarded to the top two entries. By submitting a design, you agree to all contest rules and regulations listed below
Entry Period
1. Entries will be accepted via email April 19, 2024 at 11:59 pm MDT.
Eligibility
1. You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. If you are under the age of 18 you may still create a design, but it must be submitted on your behalf by a parent or guardian.
2. No purchase necessary to enter or win. You do not need to be registered for the Dragonfest retreat nor a member of Dragonfest of Colorado.
3. Void where prohibited by law. Any disputes arising under the terms and conditions of this contest will be governed by the State of Colorado.
Design Guidlines
1. Your design should be inspired by the theme of this year’s retreat. The 2023 Theme is Invigorating Growth Through Kinship and Celebration.
2. Designs should be limited to one-color line art. Thin lines, shading, hatching, crosshatching, and greyscale do not translate well for t-shirt printing.
3. Designs should not include text or logos for Dragonfest, the theme, or the year. These elements, if used, will be added in addition to your design.
4. Designs should be no wider than 12 inches and no taller than 14 inches.
Submission Guidelines
1. All submissions must be sent by email to ops@dragonfest.org during the entry period stated above. Submissions should include the full name, date of birth, and email contact details of the person submitting the entry. If the entry is being submitted on behalf of someone else, the full name, date of birth, and email contact details of the designer must also be included (contact details of a minor may be the same as the parent or gaurdian). The entire email submission (email plus attachment) must be 10 MB or smaller in order to be received.
2. Entrants must agree to the Dragonfest T-shirt Art Contest Rules and Guidlines which includes assigning copyright and intellectual property rights to Dragonfest of Colorado.
3. Designs must be original and submitted by or on behalf of the designer and with the designer’s direct consent. A parent or gaurdian must submit on behalf of anyone who is under the age of 18 at the time of entry.
4. Designs must be vector line art or a rasterized image of at least 300 dpi at 12 inches wide and/or 14 inches tall so that they are suitable for print media as well as online channels. Acceptable file types are AI, EPS, JPG, PNG, or PDF.
5. If your submission is scanned, hand-drawn art, it should not include lines (such as in lined paper), wrinkles, or other blemishes not intended to be part of the design.
Official Contest Rules
1. Contest is open to anyone meeting the above Eligibility requirements who submits artwork for entry during the Entry Period.
2. All entries must be original work that has never been published, and does not contain trademarks, logos, or the copyrighted works of any other person or business.
3. All entries become and remain the property of Dragonfest of Colorado. Dragonfest will not return any entries to you. Dragonfest may use the design of any entry at any time after the contest. Contestants may display their own design(s) in a portfolio or personal collection, but may not sell or reproduce the design(s) for any other purpose once submitted to the contest.
4. All entries must conform to the Submission Guidlines and received during the Entry Period.
5. Dragonfest of Colorado is not responsible for entries not received due to technical issues and accepts no responsibility for technical support of any entries.
6. A panel of judges representing Dragonfest of Colorado will choose the winning submission(s). We reserve the right to pick one entry, more than one entry, or no entries as the winning entry.
7. If we pick an entry as a winning entry, we may produce and sell t-shirts at the Dragonfest Retreat with the winning design but we are not obligated to do so.
8. We reserve the right to terminate this contest at any time, effective on the date of issuing the termination notice. We do not need to give you notice prior to the date of termination.
9. By submitting an entry, you agree that you will sign an assignment and release form prepared by us acknowledging your acceptance and understanding of the complete contest rules including that the design is the property of Dragonfest of Colorado.
10. Contest rules can be changed and/or updated without notice. Contest participants are responsible for checking rules for changes, and should review the rules prior to each submission.
11. This contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws.
Acknowledgement and Assignment
I am submitting a contest entry with this form, and I hereby assign any and all rights in the intellectual property of this entry to Dragonfest of Colorado. I agree that the entry I submit becomes your property and that the entry will not be returned to me.
I state that this entry is my own original creation and that I did not copy anyone else’s work in creating this contest entry. I agree that if I have copied anyone else’s work in preparing this entry, and if I win this contest, I will pay back the value of the award to Dragonfest of Colorado and will defend, indemnify and hold harmless Dragonfest of Colorado and its respective officers, directors, volunteers, employees, suppliers, licensors, contractors and agents against and from any loss, debt, liability, damage, obligation, claim, demand, judgment or settlement of any nature or kind, known or unknown, liquidated or unliquidated, including without limitation, all reasonable costs and expenses incurred including all reasonable litigation costs and attorneys’ fees arising out of or relating to claims, complaint, action, proceeding or suit of a third party, that arise or relate in whole or part to the contestant’s entry.
I agree that if I win the contest, I authorize the use by you, without additional compensation, of my name and likeness or photograph for promotional purposes in any manner and in any medium (including without limitation the Internet, written or email communications, brochures, videos, slides, radio, television, film) that you deem appropriate.
If I submit more than one entry, I will submit an Entry Form with each entry.
I agree that if I win this contest, the free entry to the Dragonfest Retreat and free t-shirt is fair and adequate compensation for my contest entry
