It is a part of the vision of the Dragonfest Community. Our community values diversity and opposes injustice that limits diversity and tears down vibrant communities, in particular, the systemic racial injustice that we recognize to exist in our country.
We can not raise alarms of inequity when it affects our freedom of belief if we do not also stand against the ingrained systemic inequity that threatens the unalienable rights, even the very lives, of others in our communities. We say unequivocally and without qualifications –
Black Lives Matter
We stand in solidarity with those that oppose inequity, oppose injustice, and oppose racism. We honor the civic and community leaders that move our communities towards greater diversity and racial justice.
It is easy to look within the Dragonfest Community and notice that our own makeup does not reflect the diversity of our local communities. Recognizing this, we will work to ensure that this condition is not the result of unrecognized, implicit biases nor unfounded beliefs about paganism and people of color. We will be encouraging our membership to reflect on and discuss how our organization can ensure that our processes and culture create diversity and inclusivity within our retreat structure and environment.
